A part-time Administrative Assistant is needed to support the Hercules: a Hero for All Ages project, funded by the AHRC Networking Grant Scheme.

Until July 2017 duties will focus on practical preparations for the conference Celebrating Hercules in the Modern World, to be held at the University of Leeds (main campus) Friday 7 to Sunday 9 July 2017. These are likely to include organising conferences facilities (room bookings etc), taking bookings from delegates, coordinating with external academic and non-academic partners, marketing and publicity.

Additional duties will be carried out as far as time allows in this period, and be the focus of the role once the conference is over. These duties will involve: development of the project’s website; assistance in the preparation of the four edited volumes to be published in Brill’s Metaforms series.

As part of this role, you will be required to attend regular meetings with the Project Coordinator throughout the 24 months duration of the project, to be arranged at mutually convenient times. You will also be required to be present for 8 hours on each day of the conference (Friday 7 to Sunday 9 July 2017). Aside from these requirements there will be flexibility in terms of working patterns and location, which will be agreed through discussion between the post-holder and project leader (Dr Stafford).

Educated to GCSE level with Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent), you will have an interest in Classics and experience of working in a customer-oriented environment. You will also be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook in particular) and have experience of using the web (including information searches), updating web-based information and using social media (for example, Facebook, Twitter, and blogs).

Hourly rate: £10.01 – £11.53 (equivalent to University of Leeds Grade 4 £18,212 – £20,989p.a. pro rata)
