Sponsored by HALI, CORNUCOPIA, Bonhams, Christies, and Sotheby’s

Application deadline: 31st October 2016

Applications are now open for the tenth Ancient & Modern award of £1,000 for original research for candidates under 26 or over 60 years of age. The Godfrey Goodwin Prize of £500, in honour of the distinguished Ottoman architectural historian Godfrey Goodwin (1921–2005), will be awarded to the runner-up.

How to apply

The project should relate to any of the subject areas covered by the sponsoring publications, HALI and CORNUCOPIA.

Applications should outline the project in no more than 500 words and state what you would do with the funds. The award can be used for travel, material expenses and sustenance while the research is under way. Priority will be given to projects which display originality and would not easily find funding. Please include your age and contact address.

The winner should submit an article for publication within a year, which HALI and CORNUCOPIA reserve the right to publish.

Entries are judged on the following criteria:

  • Presentation
  • Worthiness of the subject
